Cobwebs, Good Grub for post-Book Town Shopping

Wigtown is Scotland’s book town, home to many excellent book shops and it’s also home to the Cobwebs cafe.

Cobwebs is on the main high street is a great place to have a hearty lunch after a morning perusing the book shops and discussing your latest book purchases with whoever your book town buddy is.

The walls are covered to original and lovely pieces of artwork that are for sale and are also a joy to watch.

The staff are welcoming and friendly (as you’d expect in Galloway) and the food is very warm and filling.

On my latest visit I opted for the fish, which was light and fluffy inside and the batter was a tad greasy for my tastes, but I prefer dry batter.

For me what made the lunch memorable was the sound of chickens clucking in the background.

If you are in the book town I recommend you swing by Cobwebs for lunch.
