Does your job pass the Toddler Test?
What is the Toddler Test? It is a simple test, to see if a two or three-year-old would spend five minutes watching you do your job.
If they won't there is a 50-50 chance your job would qualify as a "bullshit job".
A toddler can sniff out a 'real' job from a mile away. Does it involve physical action? Yes - they will pay attention.
Does it involve digging, moving, breaking, fixing, making, helping, mending, carrying, or healing? Then it will pass the toddler test and they will very much spend ages watching and wanting to be involved.
If your job is at a desk on a computer, it fails the toddler test, and it might even be a "bullshit job".
Toddlers love reality, they have boundless curiosity and they love taking action and they will humble you and make you a better person.
